Best cure for morning (all day) sickness?

I need some tips and cures for my sickness.  It has slowly been getting worse and worse and today it is just awful.  I've been sick 3 times already today and have only had crisps to eat.  Hopefully there are only another couple of weeks in sight!

What helped you to keep food down and how long did your sickness last?

  1. Oh, the sickness is awful. Sorry to hear that.

I can tell you how I kept the sickness down to a minimum......

Biscuits (digestive, rich tea or ginger nuts) by the bed so you have one or two before you get out of bed.

Smaller meals and more often. Six small meals instead of 3 big meals. A mid morn snack, mid afternoon and evening. I found if I was getting hungry the sickness was much worse.

I was only sick for first 13 wks with both my boys, but with my daugther....dare I tell u.......
I was sick every day of the 40 wks.

Feel better soon, and look after yourself.

  2. When I say six meals. I mean just something small on the snack times, like crispbreads, cream crackers, toast, fruit, crisps etc.

  3. ugh... I'm sorry... My helper was saltines/oyster crackers and chicken noodle soup... and laying on the couch, holding a big body pillow. Having something up against my belly just made me feel soo much better... then drinking LOTS of water. There were some days where I'd go only having those 3 things.. haha. But it sounds like yours is a little more intense than mine :( hope u feel btter soon girlie!

  4. I didn't have bad morning sickness - just really bad nausea. I found "Preggo Pop Drops", "Elmer's Sour Lemon Drops" and ginger mint tea were excellent for combating it!

    Hope you feel better soon!

  5. I loved Preggo Pop Drops. I also had to make sure my belly was never empty regardless of the morning sickness. I ate a lot of Cheez-Its throughout the day. I realized I had to constantly keep food in my belly to keep the sickness at bay.

  7. Drinking water help my nausea and ginger tea. Also working on my breathing kept my nerves down thus my nausea at bay. Hope it helps.

  8. I was sick my first 4 months. I found a diet of fruits and veggies helped. Also, staying away from meat or greasy smells. Smells made my nausea way worse. I needed clean, fresh smells to feel better.

  9. I wore sea bands for the whole first trimester. They only worked though if I constantly wore them...if I took them off and then waited until I was already feeling sick to put them on, it took forever to go away. Also I drank a lot of gatorade/powerade. I think it was the combination of sugar & electrolytes that helped me keep other food down.

  10. Although I never tried it, I heard that eating ginger is great for curing nausea. Ginger snap cookies, ginger ale..ect. Sorry your feeling so icky!! But, at least there is something amazing growing on your belly that makes it all worth it. :)

  11. Eat small snacks frequently and saltine crackers. Although that may be what you call crisps.

  14. Hi Emma!

Sorry to hear you've been feeling so ill! I had severe morning sickness with all 5 of my pregnancies, and it lasted anywhere from the first 6 months, to the entire pregnancy! I kept waiting for it to go away, or get better, but it didn't. :( My doctor prescribed a drug called Diclectin, which really helped if I split the dosage and took half at night, and half in the morning. Here's a link to Diclectin's site (http://diclectin.com/), if you want to learn more about it, or speak to your doctor about it. Hope you're feeling better soon!

  15. Flat diet ginger ale (tesco's or Canada Dry)
    Dry plain crisp bread
    Ginger biscuits

    Those seemed to help me.
